WOULD
YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER?
DO YOU VOLUNTEER ALREADY?
HAVE YOU HEARD OF MILLENNIUM VOLUNTEERS?
The role of Millennium Volunteers (MV) is to encourage and
support young people to volunteer up to 200 hours of their
time.
On top of the feel good factor from helping
their local community, the MVs also get awarded certificates
for 100 and 200 hours of volunteering.
These awards are nationally
recognised and can play an important role when applying for
jobs, college and university. In addition to these awards,
we can also offer training, project funding, support and advice.
WHO CAN BE A MILLENNIUM
VOLUNTEER?
Anyone aged between
16 and 24 can be an MV. The scheme encourages you to get involved
in local issues you care about. At the same time you gain
experience, confidence and skills. You could be involved in
projects such as sports coaching, environmental issues, youth
leadership, music and dance. Through volunteering you can
make a positive difference to your own life and your community.
As an MV you volunteer your time to help others by doing something
you enjoy. You get the chance to develop your skills and personal
qualities and something really worthwhile to add to your CV.
Lots of young people already
volunteer their time to help the community, maybe without
realising it. From helping at Brownies and Scouts, lunchtime
duties at school, volunteering in a charity shop, charity
sponsor events to sports coaching all counts as MV hours.
UP FOR A CHALLENGE?
Challenge Days are one off activities that MV organise
for the school holidays. They are a good way to meet other
