Woburn Safari Park – the babies are taking over!!

Mischief certainly seems to be the theme of Woburn Safari Park if the latest edition of their free newsletter to Safari Club members and animal adopters is anything to go by!! There are 8 mischievous lion cubs out and about in the reserves, enjoying the sunshine and causing trouble! All of the lions can be visited (but not up close and personal!!) in their massive 32 acre reserve an area larger than may zoos in their entire acreage.

Tiny trouble makers in the form of one month old Lemurs are also making themselves known as curiosity is getting the better of them! Earl and Typhoo are the proud offspring of Olive who is taking to motherhood well.

Meg – a new sea lion pup now keeps mum (Sprats) company and will soon be swimming and sunning herself for all visitors to see! Why not go and say hello?

You may remember Rosie and Jim on the Old Rag Doll – well now there’s Rosie and Rusty. Two sprightly piglets born to Ruby, all of them of the Red River Hog breed. Playfulness is certainly not lacking with these two around and they can be found in the Animal Encounters area of the park.
What else is new?

There is always loads going on at Woburn Safari Park you’ll have to check out the website to really put yourself in the picture www.woburnsafari.co.uk but here a few snippets to get you started!
Woburn has created a new charity and had planning permission granted to build a new elephant house and visitor centre on 60 acres of Woburn Estate. This would be for Asian elephants to enable them to live and breed – and thrive.

July saw the opening of a very special project called the Najavo Trail. This enclosure holds Canadian Black Bears and Canadian Timber Wolves – both carnivores. Lots of work has gone into this to ensure they can roam freely together as they would in their home land. They have settled in very well together and caused great interest in the press appearing in National Press, Radio and on TV!

Welcome to Danica! This is the winning name chosen for a little (!)
baby giraffe at Woburn (congratulations to Anita Marshall!) and it
means Morning Star.

Check it out!

Why not pay a visit to the animals at Woburn and experience something out of the ordinary! For more information on opening times, costs, all the good work at the park log on to www.woburnsafari.co.uk

Why not pay a visit to funkeemunkee’s adopted friend and check out how our little Patas boy is doing?!
